FD maturity: A = P × (1 + r/k)^(k×t), where P is the principal, r is the annual rate (decimal), k is the number of times interest is compounded per year (1, 2, 4, or 12), and t is the tenure in years.
What is compounding frequency?
It is how often the bank adds interest to your principal. Quarterly (4 times a year) is common for FDs in India. Higher frequency generally gives a slightly higher maturity.
Are FD returns guaranteed?
Yes. For a normal FD, the rate is fixed at the time of deposit and the maturity amount is predictable, subject to the bank's terms.
Tax on FD interest?
FD interest is taxable. This calculator does not deduct tax; it shows the gross maturity amount.
